New teachers

In May 2013, 12 local women started their education to become qualified Montessori preschool teachers. Sponsored by Montessori Centre South Africa in Capetown and Obonto. A very unique project, while Montessori education in South Africa is only accessible for wealthy, mostly white, upper class.
In april 2015 7 local women passed their last exams and became qualified Montessori Early Childhood Teachers.
We are so proud of Irene, Nomonde, Fundiswa, Cynthia, Nokothula, Nomapuzi and Thoko!
Some of them will stay at Ikhaya Labantwane, others go back to their villages to expand the Montessori network.
In April 2018 a new group of 14 teachers-to-be started, under te passionate guidance of Jennifer Moore (Auburn House and Indaba Montessori Institute).
The teachers of Ubuntu Préschool (in Luqolweni), Good Hope Préschool (in Sidabadabeni) and Nogoko Préschool will be ready to transform the existing préschools into real Montessori Early Childhood centers. Cynthia's assistant (Ejojwene Préschool) and Dawn's assistant (Nci Nci's ones) are also in the course. Once they are qualified we can expand the classes in Ngwanguba and Hole in the Wall.
